More than enough. UK universities care more about academics than anything else, you'll probably only mention 2-3 of your extracurriculars in your personal statement.

Hi there,

It sounds like you've got a lot of relevant extracurriculars here, so well done for getting involved with so much whilst in school, this will set you up well for life at university particularly studying IR!

Other things you might want to talk about in your personal statement include wider reading you've done about particular bits of IR you're interested in. What did you learn, and what did you do as a result of this? Did it inspire you to take any further steps and learn more? Your job is to demonstrate your passion and suitability for your degree in that statement, so if you include evidence of your reading and what you gained from it as well as mentioning what your extracurriculars have taught you then I would say you're on track to making a competitive application. Just work hard at your subjects and get as much support with your application as you can from your teachers and careers advisors.

I hope this helps and best of luck!

Hey there,
My name is Siobhan and I’m a third-year student at the University of Central Lancashire. First of all, it seems like you have a lot of good experince from a range of things which is really good! The most important part about this though when applying to uni is identifying the skills you have gained form these and applying it to the course you want to do.

You should have a look at what kind of skills that you would need to work I international relations and give examples of how you can demonstrate that from your experiences. An example of this could be building critical thinking skills and collaboration from being the director of 2 politics clubs, which is essential for analysing global issues. A good thing you can use to base this off is the STAR method, so have a look at that if you can

I would also try and show a good level of understanding of the course and what your role is expected to do which is what unis will look for. Finally, I would show how passionate and dedicated you are to wanting to be on the course as this will help with your application.

I hope this has helped and please let me know if you have any more questions😊

As above, do some relevant reading so that you can comment on this in your Personal Statement - just listing 'I've done these things at school' is not enough for a UK Uni.

Academic reading :
International Relations: A Very Short Introduction (Very Short Introductions): Amazon.co.uk: Reus-Smit, Christian: 9780198850212: Books - and follow-up the 'suggested reading' for any topics that interests you.
Recommended Reading List | Department of Political Economy | King’s College London - lots of relevant suggestions.

Moocs - free online short Uni level courses :
How Politics Works: From the Individual to an International Scale - FutureLearn
Politics in the 21st Century-Online Course - FutureLearn
Global Diplomacy Diplomacy in the Modern World | Coursera
The Modern World, Part Two: Global History since 1910 | Coursera
Etc etc

UK current affairs / politics / news websites like BBC News, the Guardian etc - the longer editorial / 'opinion' pieces are the most useful. Remember you will be studying International Politics in the UK.
