withdrawing unconditional offer and re-applying in a few years? what to do?

hi everyone. so, i got accepted into UCL for a full-time MSc, but the issue is that i applied for part-time so it's a little less burdensome and they rejected my application for funding. this means i will have to pay 33,300 gbp out of pocket and it is only for the tuition itself. i do not want to take out a student loan. i'm an international student.

my family has three earners (including myself) and we live a comfortable life here, however we don't have a home of our own. the more i've been thinking about how expensive it would be, and how i might have to live paycheck to paycheck while potentially draining our savings, it doesn't sit right with me to go. AT ALL. esp since living in london costs an arm and a leg.

everyone has been encouraging me to not feel down and apply again over the next 2-3 years when i have more work experience and we're in a better place financially. i would look at more university options as well since this time i only applied to cambridge, oxford and UCL (got rejected the first two). UCL was my backup anyway.

what do you guys think of me withdrawing my app and trying again in a few years? please don't be cruel or critical. this is a very stressful time for me. thank you.

If finances don't allow you to accept the offer, then your plan to decline it and reapply in a few years (once you've saved some money) sounds like a sensible one.

If UCL offered you a place this year, then there's no reason to expect that they won't when you reapply.
Yes, just to note that it's very common for postgrad offer holders to withdraw when funding, (either scholarships or educational loans), don't materialise and it's unfeasible to cover costs.

As above, unis don't hold grudges and it wont affect your chances if you reapply later down the line.

The only solutions I see are:
- reapplying when your finances are in a strong enough position, it’s very normal for postgraduate to take a year out for this
- consider cheaper universities? And seek scholarships, there are lots of great options, you’re selecting some of the most expensive universities in the UK, have you considered any others? Additionally youre an international applicant, there are lots of great much cheaper options on the continent in France, Germany, Netherlands, & elsewhere .. would you be ok with mainland Europe?
