Edexcel AS Level Physics Paper 2 - 21st May 2025 [Exam Chat]

I think this paper was a bit more biased and time-consuming again. How was it for you?

I spoke to my teacher and he said that universities are complaining about how many students had a lack of knowledge in their first year and that the exam boards will need to make papers harder. But I'd think that making a paper that is doable and tests our broader knowledge would be better. It feels like they are running out of questions to ask.

I found this paper a lot better than the 1st but I think that may be because it was an afternoon exam. Only question i'm annoyed at really is the refraction 5 marker cos I just couldn't figure it out somehow. How did you find it overall? what questions are you thinking over?

I thought the first one was better. I didn't really like the calculation questions towards the middle. They were quite twisted.

Do you happen to remember some as an example? I can't recall the middle section so well. I honestly think I may have preferred it because I made less silly mistakes which could be due to it being an afternoon exam but idk 🤷*♂️

Honestly, I can't either. It was after the 2-marker where we had to find something about a string? And the one where we had to find what power of lens was added. I need to work on the questions where multiple equations are being used because I am struggling with that.

ahh yes those are quite tricky. It took me a while to understand it well. Essentially the image distance, image height and then the object height and object distance are similar triangles. Therefore, if there's a magnification it applies to all of them proportionally if that makes sense? someone correct me if i'm wrong but i'm fairly sure that's how it works because I luckily had a question similar to it on the past paper i did yesterday.

anyone think the grade boundaries for A will be around 100? it was 93 last year any predictions? it’s been 93 two years in a row now surely it can’t be 100 right
