Hello, just wondering if any previous students could say which choice they got for their accommodation out of the 10 you put down as some of the ones i put at the bottom I don’t want to be in.

Hi!

I think I got around my 6th option? But that is only because I applied pretty late! Like very close to the deadline haha. My best piece of advice to anyone is to not procrastinate on it like I did haha. If you've already submitted I'd say its not something to worry about, since I definitely cut it close to the deadline oops! :colondollar:

Yes, I think I applied somewhere in June or July? So quite late in comparison haha.

Hm, I think people I chat to are generally happy with their accomodation offer, but I've never really asked if they've gotten their first choice! Its definitely a good question to be asking. It all depends on a year by year basis really, its hard to say. We have lots of students on the university website as student reps, it might be helpful to ask them this question as well, if you wanted another opinion

Do you know when the accommodation is advised? Is it in July?

Sorry, could you elaborate what you mean by advised?

If you mean when you'll receive the offer for accommodation, typically the latest is late August, although that being said, I received my offer early-mid August. So, I would expect around August time or earlier

Yes I mean the allocation of rooms? Is it before results?

Personally my results for accommodation went out a similar time to results day! But that was a good couple of years ago, so I recommend contacting the Residences Team at their email, [email protected] for a more accurate date

Hi,I got to Cardiff through clearing and applied for accommodation. Received only one offer for a room with sharedbathroom. If I don't accept it, what are my chances I get accommodation at all? Thanks a lot

Hi, I’m in the exact same situation. I got a room in university hall today with shared bathroom. I haven’t accepted it yet. If we can manage to find some other first year students on here we can book ensuite rooms in west wing. I was planning to do that but I wanna make sure my flatmates are also first year cardiff students.

Its a private accommodation about 22mins walk from main campus. I got an email from UCAS saying you might be interested - you know those UCAS media emails. If you search up west wing Cardiff it should come up but before you book please let me know - I emailed them last night asking if they can give me a flat with other first year undergraduate Cardiff students but they haven’t replied yet. I might give them a ring.

I believe that if you don’t accept it, you will be assigned a room lower in your list of preferences so if you have put an accommodation with en-suites below the offer you got there’s a chance you could get offered that instead but i’m not 100% sure.

Hiya, I can't personally share experience unfortunately, but you can see some student reviews here. But I will say with accommodations it is quite common to have a mix of experiences in my opinion, because of different rooms or expectations maybe. Also if you haven't already there are the Facebook group chats to meet others in your accommodation, you can see the list here!
Again in my opinion Cardiff in general is quite safe, especially if you walk with friends, and if you feel unsafe the campus security who patrol around have their number on your student ID card, and we have an app called Safe Zone, which allows you to share your journey with our security team, and quick contact to the security team and/or police should you need it. We also run a Safe Taxi scheme, whereby you can order a taxi (through our partner taxi company) and quote your student number, and it allows you to pay for the taxi at a later date if you cannot pay there and then.

I hope this is hopeful and eases some doubts.
Please if you have any more questions feel free to ask!
