Tiffin Boys: Regarding Sixth Form Entry Requirements for Mathematics

I am interested in applying to Tiffin School as an external student for Sixth Form entry. In my recent end-of-year exams, I achieved a grade 8 in Mathematics and a grade 9 in Further Mathematics. However, I am confident that my final Year 10 grades for both subjects will be a grade 9.

Could someone please clarify whether Tiffin School considers the end-of-year exam grades specifically, or the overall grade for Year 10 (which may include a combination of assessments) when evaluating applicants for Mathematics and Further Mathematics?

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Neither of those are considered. Only your real Year 11 GCSE grades are considered, when your top 8 grades are added up. Also Further Maths is never considered at any point, it’s not one of the GCSEs that gets counted

Obviously one point will be that although only GCSE grades are truly considered, the admissions process presumably takes place earlier in the year. In this case they will likely look at your predicted grades, but will allow a bit more margin and then provided you get the required GCSE's you'll be fine. I don't know how your school works, but our predicted grades are based off lots of things including the teacher's professional judgement for how they think we are likely to perform!
