Urgent! Parent Account Recovery – Support for My Sister’s Application

Dear Student Finance,

I’m having the same issue with my dad’s account. My sister is applying to university and has requested my dad to support her application. Unfortunately, he doesn’t remember his password, his CRN, and no longer has access to the email address linked to his account.

I’m not sure what to do next, as to my understanding the PN1 form is for students applying rather than supporting an application, and we’re worried this might affect her funding. She’s already submitted her application, so we’re quite nervous. I understand we need to write a cover letter explaining the situation, but I’m unsure what else needs to be included. And should I send it to the Glasgow address?

I would really appreciate your guidance on how to resolve this.

Hi there. Has your father tried to contact us over the phone to reset their log in details? Thanks, David

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, my father has tried contacting Student Finance by phone, but he keeps getting asked for his Customer Reference Number (CRN), which he does not have. When he says he doesn’t have it and asks for help, which the system requested as a reply for when you do not have a CRN, the system just keeps repeating the same options and doesn’t connect him to an operator. Unfortunately, the other menu options haven’t been helpful either.

Hi there. We do not require the CRN to access the account there are other options we can use. I would advise they contact us again over the phone to speak to an adviser and we can reset their login details. Thanks, David
