Nottingham Trent or Kingston for product desing

I’ve got a tough decision, both unis appeal to me, Nottingham is more studenty and is away from home (pro), but Kingston feels like it’s a bit better course, and the school of art is very nice. Both offers are well within reach so that isn’t an issue, can anyone speak for nottinghams course? It didn’t feel as good as Kingston but still good, do they work with good companies for their live projects?

Thanks

Hi @holyschmoe

Great to hear you are thinking of Kingston!

Although I don't study product design here at Kingston I am part of Kingston School of Art and so can give you some insight as to what that is like and the campus. You will be studying at Knights Park Campus which has a new extension with lots of amazing workshops, studios and social spaces. If you click the link it will take you to a post I have done in more depth about the campus.

If you have any questions in particular about Kingston I would be happy to answer

I would also really recommend going to an open day for both unis if you can. As it is a great chance to get a feel for the university as to what it might be like to live and study there, see the facilities and speak to current students and lectures. You can find out about Kingston's upcoming open days on the website Open Days and events | Kingston University London

Hi @holyschmoe,

We hope your doing well at this busy time, I imagine it's been a tough choice, especially if you have any upcoming examinations on your mind as well.

One of the elements of our Product Design course we're proud of is our focus on employability, especially through placements, work experience and live briefs. As part of some modules, you'll work on live project briefs set by real industry clients. This can involve visits and workshops led by design teams from industry, and delivering presentations to them, allowing you to showcase your skills and ability to potential employers. Previously, our students have worked with Nestlé, PepsiCo, Speedo, W'innovate, Instrmnt, Herman Miller, and Matter on a range of exciting projects. As well as this, some of our students have secured placements with Nestlé, Lego (Denmark), The Walt Disney Company, Adidas and Urban Outfitters. One of our students, Anastasia, talks more about her placement experience in her Student Profile.

If you have any questions, we'd be happy to help further. You can also always reach out to our current staff and students to learn more about NTU.
