time management

so ive sat 5 papers so far :
12 may economics paper 1
16 may psychology paper 1
19 may sociology paper 1
19 may economics paper 2
-----------------------------------
and guess what ? im pretty sure i flipped sociology and economics.
the only hope i have now is the left 4 papers.
but i found myself struggle with time management DURING exam.
for example i got too excited to write a 12 marker in economics p1 , and spend nearly 30 minutes on that , realising i have no time for the 15 marker and the 25 marker. i ended up finish the 25 marker but the 15 marker is completely blank... the same thing happened for paper 2 too , even though i have learned my lesson so i did skim through all the questions before hand and tries to allocate time for each question , but i got stuck in the 12 marker and again, i ended up not even starting the 15 marker. Its a worser case for sociology , i basically skipped a 10 marker and write very briefly for a 20. I dont even know if im gonna get a C for these and my offer requires AAB...so cooked...
so any advice for this situation would be so helpful thank you !! ( or just general revision tips as well !!)

Hi @somone_cat

Firstly, I am sure the papers you have already done went much better than you think so try not to worry too much about that!

My best advice for time management during exams would be to try and practice a past paper and start with the longer mark questions first. If you can get the longer questions out of the way, then you will have the rest of the time to focus on the short, less mark questions.

I used to find that this technique meant I could attempt to answer all the questions within the time given and therefore I did not have to leave any blank. If you can access a past paper then It would be ideal to set up a timer with the same amount of time they give you for the real thing and work from the back of the paper to the front and see how it goes!

I hope this is able to help you, time management in exams is something that a lot of people, including myself find difficult. Good luck with the rest of your exams!

Thanks, Matt 🙂
