replying to ucas offers - help

hey just looking for some advice. the ucas deadline for accepting offers is closing in on june 5 and I still haven’t responded to any of my unis. currently, i have 3 offers for chemistry. one at imperial for A*A*A (maths and chem), edinburgh for A*AA (chem), AAB (maths and chem) at bristol. i have indicated which subjects require the higher grade. i’m still hung up on what uni to firm. i feel like imperial would be the best option because it is a good uni for graduate prospects and close to home. however, currently revising for my exams i feel like it is unlikely that i’m going to achieve the required grades this summer. i’m also unsure whether i’ll fit with the crowd there, compared to the other unis, and may just be considering it for the sake of being a ‘good uni’. i feel like the best idea would be to insure bristol because both edinburgh and imperial require an A* in chemistry. so, i’m wondering: should i be safe (put less stress on myself) and firm edinburgh and reject imperial, or aim high and firm imperial. thank you for any responses

Congratulations to your offers.

Getting an A* is super difficult and requires a bit of luck. That said, Imperial worth the try if you are reasonably confident in achieving AAB. First because of Edinburgh's 4 year curriculum and second Bristol is not inferior to Edinburgh. So not much point firming Edinburgh and insuring Bristol.

Good luck.

firm imperial! very impressive to get an offer there and it’s only three years of your life for a great degree. then insure bristol to take the stress off - as someone said before me it’s no less than edinburgh despite lower grades. or, insure edinburgh and take a year out and reapply if you miss, if you’re not opposed to a year out.

Just bear in mind that if you insure Bristol you’re not guaranteed accommodation there, so bear in mind if this is important to you. You would have to firm them to be guaranteed university accommodation. Not sure what Edinburgh accommodation guarantee is but maybe check this out too if it is important to you to be housed with other 1st years. These are all very prestigious universities and you would do well academically and career wise graduating from any of them. Good luck!

Congrats on your offers! I've also got an offer from imperial for chemistry and deciding between there and St Andrews. Have you made a decision yet?
