Using LinkedIn at 16?

Hello, my school have made us set up LinkedIn and what we have done is just spam connection requests to our peers and also school alumni, and I have accumulated over 600+ connections: followers with an empty LinkedIn profile.
Would having too many unnecessary connections be a problem in the future (as in UCAS/ internship seeking)? If so, should I create a brand new LinkedIn and just connect with people of my field? Thanks!

Its a totally pointless thing to bother with at 16 - and frankly of limited usefulness as an adult.
Uni staff have far better things to bother with than checking teenage social-media accounts, and whatever your school tries to tell you, it isn't going to make any difference to your UCAS application or your student-life.

I agree with @McGinger. It's too early to worry about. I didn't start using LinkedIn until I got to uni (which I admit is later than many), and I'm no worse off because of it. Like any social media, it will be a hit to your mental health to spend too much time worrying about it.
