You need to work out your weighted mark for each year, and then put the AWM% into a grade calculator along with the weighting for the overall year.

Hi @meohcathy,

Thank you for your message! You are most definitely not alone in feeling confused by this ☺️

Most universities weigh your final year more heavily than previous years. The exact calculation depends on your course and university, but a common structure is something like:

Second year: 33%

Final year: 67%

So to work out what you need in your final year, you’ll need to know:

1.

Your overall mark from second year

2.

How much your final year counts toward your degree

3.

What final classification you're aiming for (e.g., 2:1 = 60%, First = 70%)

Once you know how your years are weighted and what your second-year average is, you can use a simple formula or spreadsheet to work out what you’ll need in your final year. If you’d like, feel free to share your current marks and the weightings, and I’d be happy to help you figure it out!

It might also be worth getting in touch with your academic advisor, as they’ll be able to give you advice based on your specific course.

I hope that this helps!

Best wishes,

Hi there,

You've had some helpful answers here, but I'd always recommend contacting your academic tutor to be sure about how things are calculated at your university.

I'd also recommend looking into a grade tracker. I use Grade Guide, which has helped me each year to visualize how I am doing and what I am on track to get. I find it super helpful to keep me motivated! You can weigh each module/year to what it should be, making it easy to use too.

I hope this helps,
