ADD and College adjustments
At College doing an HND, I have an end of unit Dissertation due, which I have exceeded the deadline by over a week, currently. This graded unit began officially in January the 8th, and was a 4 man group including myself for an engineering design project.
I’m still titrating medication, close to an effective dose but in the last two months, I’ve had problems such as interacting from another medication upsetting the stimulants, not being able to get medication and then switching medication in this space of time. This has effected my progress to complete the report.
my group got split up after 3 months, as others were not putting in any work.
I do think the group being split up was the right Action, but it was made clear that group members will not affect your grade, it’s down to your work you put in, by the first stage of the report this changed. Also a late submission, as said others had not bothered with the tasks for the project. We then got told, the best we could get for a section due to the late submission was a grade C.
So at this point, end of march roughly with 7 weeks to submission; CAD work to do from scratch, MS project schedule and costing to do, calculations etc tasks that were allocated to people. I’ve got most of it all done now but was unnecessary set back with my current condition with medication. Just to bring the last 20% together plus engineering drawings from the cad model and tidy up the report.
Also, I’ve got a solo presentation of 30 minutes to talk about my design proposal.
Again not touched it, this is next week supposed to be.
I have been communicating these issues this to my lecturer and head of the curriculum since the start of the year but I don’t full feel supported, my lecturer hasn’t really been understanding. Also asked learning support where I stand after bringing them up to date, they said just communicate with the curriculum head.
I think, I will just about be able to complete the remaining tests for this year if the college allows the maximum time until they close at the end of June.
I think my grade will be lower than expected for something completely out of my control. Or if I can’t finish by the end of June, then what?
So in terms of appeal or actions I can take? As I Don’t want a year wasted as I have a conditional offer for progressing onto Uni.
