no contact with my teacher since early May- Y13

I had around 3 exams in May so I stopped going to my a level bio classes in college to revise for other subjects the ones i had exams for and i also was ill around end of April which got worse during the exam period, my may exams are finished, I had problems with illness and attendance in the past and my biology teacher was strict about it but after I stopped going to his classes to revise, i never heard from him at all especially since he would usually record my absences etc

It feels weird since today is the last day and I'm now just doing revision at home, i've been in frequent contact with my other 2 teachers but not this one, I don't know whether this is on me, the last email I sent them was a reminder to mark my work in May. But yeah i just haven't heard from them and theres no point now anyway, i did struggle a lot in biology aswell so it wasn't ideal but it is what it is

It felt awkward reaching out to my teacher especially because he was probably informed i was ill and stressed since my school knew about it but ig this is normal in college to just vanish and not hear from your teacher, I knew a girl who stopped coming after Easter. My school also didn't give any study leave until today and I obviously had exams before so I stopped going in, I'm wondering whether I screwed up with my teacher or if its just natural to not hear back from them

Hi @IMABUFF,

Thanks for getting in touch 😊

I really hope your exams went as well as they could under the circumstances! It sounds like you’ve had a really challenging time balancing exams and being unwell.

It’s totally understandable to feel unsure when a teacher doesn’t get back to you; especially if they’ve usually been quite strict. But during exam season, it’s actually quite common for things to go a bit quiet, particularly if you’ve been revising from home or haven’t been in class. It doesn’t sound like you’ve done anything wrong.

If you’re still feeling unsure, there’s no harm in sending a quick message to check in, and this could help put your mind at ease.

If you ever want to chat about study tips or how to manage communication with teachers, we’re always here to help!

Best wishes,

Clare

I stopped attending sixth form too after easter dw about it I thought my teacher disliked me for it as I went zero contact but when I came in to do my exams she seemed fine, if they’ve been informed by sixth form the reason why you’re not here they shouldn’t have a problem
