AQA Critical Anthology - Narrative (A-Level English Literature)

Hi,

I'm starting my novel coursework and I want to explore the Narrative theme, however I was told by someone in class that it is taken less seriously than other themes like Post-Colonial and Marxist. Is this true?

You will not be marked down based on the theory you pick. Whilst Marxist and post-colonialist theories are more common it depends on the text you are doing. Personally, I found that narrative was a tricky one to choose as it doesn't have as much substance as the others but it really depends on your writing preference. It definitely isn't taken less seriously.
