WJEC AS English Language and Literature Unit 2 exam

How did everyone find the paper? I do A Streetcar Named Desire and Once in a House on Fire (I know that hardly anyone does this) and I thought the questions were quite nice! I was little bit lost on Streetcar; I did Blanche and Mitch and felt like my point wasn’t clear. But I’m happy with my answer for section B! I did father figures  so glad AS exams are over!!!

i do streetcar and down and out in paris and london, honestly i didn’t like the streetcar extracts. i chose the blanche and mitch but i felt repetitive and im not sure. the section for down and out was good though i thought

I didn’t mind the Blanche and Mitch extract but I felt like I was a bit limited in terms of where to go off in the play + context was hard to work with. But I think that it was easier to do that question than the other as the one about there being no hope seemed a bit too complicated lol

yeah, to be honest i originally went with the dramatic tension/ hope but after reading the extract i found it difficult to link to dramatic tension. i’d then used up 5 mins of the extract time going back and forth deciding so i didn’t end up covering as much as i wanted i feel my extract response was poor. i had points for the essay but i had to rush slightly to move onto section B, but for my texts i thought section B was nice.
i still cant decide whether i think this week or last weeks exam was better though lol

I feel the same way as you I was thrown a bit with section A but I liked section B  I honestly don’t know because I had to improvise a bit with Unit 1 because of the poem but think I did okay other than that, but I’d say they’re equal

yeah i feel the same, section A threw me off massively. also with unit 1 out of the poems that have already come up i feel they could’ve chosen a worse one, despite the situation not being ideal, so im not sure

I completely agree!! They were mean for choosing one that had already come up but Spellbound has both the fact that it’s Emily Brontë and that it’s so short going for it. It was definitely the best of a worst case scenario

definitely! if any of the other poems that have already come up came up, i’d have had absolutely no clue for context lol
