Help me!!

okay so I do a level chemistry and I regret it so bad I’m honestly trash at it and I’ve procrastinated revising all year, I’m in year 12 and if I get anything lower than a C in my next mock which is the final one I will get kicked out and have to redo the year. Right now I’m averaging a D or E in my exams and I’m honestly so stressed I have less than a month to get a decent grade or I’ll have to start over and add another year to my SENTENCE . Please if there is any advice for chemistry (ocr a ) send it my way because I’m honestly finished

You’ve still got time. focus on key topics like moles, bonding, and organic mechanisms. Use Physics & Maths Tutor for past paper questions and mark schemes. Watch MaChemGuy on YouTube. Do little every day, and don’t panic, plenty of students turn it around in the final month. You’ve got this.

Hi @Zhzaaash,

The first thing to do is establish what you're struggling with; although some students struggle solely with the memorisation element of Chemistry (e.g. definitions/chemical observations), others struggle with particular topics (e.g. organic/quantitative chemistry). Identify where/how you've lost the majority of your marks in your previous mocks, and focus on rectifying these key areas.

YouTube videos helped a lot with my A-Level Chemistry revision, but past papers were probably the resource I found most useful overall. Previous A-Level Chemistry past papers and mark schemes can be found on your exam board's website.

Best of luck with your next mock,
Eve (Kingston Rep).

I'd also say find what you're struggling with. I'd say based on my experience make sure you get all the maths content as there's lots. In terms of the short term just try and rote learn as much stuff as possible. In the longer term spend time working on your deeper understanding of thinks so that you don't need to rely on knowing all the facts and can access application questions. Maybe also ask your teachers if there are any set percentages of what's in the paper eg a percentage of marks which nust be maths, definitions etc to focus on the weightiest areas.

FLASHCARDS FLASHCARDS. search online FLASHCARDS for your exam board on brainscape.com and do all of them then do past papers to understand the style of question and if you are really struggling I suggest pasting the questions your doing into AI like ChatGPT and ask it to explain how to do the question - these things really helped me

Good luck!

Hi there,

was in the exact same position as you! Ended up with four marks off of a C so I was allowed to continue. I found that I struggled a lot with organic chemistry, so I made a mind map with all the different chemical conversions and would test myself by using the lines to convert different compounds into others. These did not exist online when I did mine back in 2020 but there are loads now.

freesciencelessons is good to use, as is primrose kitten (both on YouTube). Remember to test your knowledge by applying it to past papers and exam questions.

If you struggle with the 'theory' side, flash cards are very useful for definitions and processes. For the more maths/chemical equation side, application to past papers is useful.

Good luck!

Kind regards, Jenifer (Kingston rep)
