Bath or Loughborough for Psychology?

Hi! I went to offer holder days at Warwick, Loughborough and Bath. I absolutely loved Warwick's campus and its general vibes, but its course isn't for me so I've unfortunately ruled it out.

Loughborough and Bath both have incredibly interesting courses for Psychology - I prefer Loughborough for 1st and 2nd year but might have to give Bath the edge for final year.

However, when I visited Bath, I disliked the campus and the general vibes. Especially in comparison to Warwick, it was very quiet and reminded me of the city I'm from, which I'm not particularly keen on. I really liked Loughborough's campus and everyone was incredibly friendly, but I'm a little concerned about the Sports aspect as I am incredibly unsporty. I spoke to two student ambassadors who both reassured me that you don't need to be involved with Sports for the social aspect at Loughborough, but they both found most of their friends through Sports. I'm happy to try something new (I have my eye on martial arts) but I'd be more happy being in the sorts of society offered at Warwick, like poker or baking. I didn't get much of a chance to see the city in Bath itself, so don't have much to go off of in that regard, either.

Academically, Bath seems to be much more well-known than Loughborough, is ranked slightly higher on the league tables, and seems to have better facilities. Both of my grade offers are quite similar (AAA for Bath as I have achieved an A* in EPQ and AAB for Loughborough) so that hasn't been a main contributor in my decision-making.

I'm just overall so confused as to what to do. Any insight would be very helpful. Thanks a lot!

Loughborough sounds like a more 'comfortable' place for you - you liked both the course and the campus. Don't worry about being non-sporty. There are always beginner classes or sessions that are just 'fun' orientated rather than being sweaty and competitive! And having a fabulous pool for a lazy Sunday afternoon swim is a big bonus.

League tables are actually all a bit daft - even academics don't take them seriously - and the difference between these two excellent Unis is not going to have any big impact on your graduate career etc. And, Bath is now ludicrously expensive - rents and living costs are as high as London. Your ££s are going to go much further in LB and you'll have just as much fun.

Thank you so much. I'm definitely interested in completing a Masters (and maybe PhD) so the saved money would definitely be helpful.
