Question about CAS after RCA Offer – Is IELTS UKVI Required?

Hi everyone,
I recently received an offer from RCA and I’m now preparing for my CAS.
I already have a regular IELTS Academic score, but I’m not sure if that’s enough or if I need to take the IELTS for UKVI.

Will the CAS not be issued unless I submit a UKVI version?
Has anyone had a similar experience? Would really appreciate any advice!
Thanks in advance.

Hi @Mjkimwip

When applying to study in the UK as an international/overseas student, the IELTS UKVI is generally required. The CAS is issued to students who need to apply for a student visa as a confirmation that the student has been accepted into a course and is required for visa applications. I believe the CAS is issued independently from any English language test, but you'd have to check with the university itself.

If you already have a valid IELTS Academic test score, I would suggest contacting the university as they will determine if an extra IELTS UKVI is necessary. It may also depend on the degree level of your course, for example if you've applied for a foundation year you'll most likely need it to be UKVI-approved, but a bachelor or master degree may accept the regular IELTS.

Either way, I suggest contacting the university directly.

I hope this helps 🙂
