Hi Suzanne,
I’m currently a Master’s student in the social sciences at Liverpool John Moores, having completed my undergraduate degree at York. Some of my peers studied Criminology at Liverpool John Moores University and had really positive experiences.
One of my peers said it includes frequent guest speakers from various sectors, which kept lectures engaging and attendance high. There are also great opportunities for fieldwork, both in the UK and internationally. Instead of a traditional dissertation, she completed a final-year research project in Amsterdam, exploring graffiti as a form of political expression and its links to vandalism, freedom of speech, and resistance. She recently secured a job in local government in Wales, working in regeneration, so the course clearly offers strong career pathways too.
Here’s the link to the Criminology BA course at LJMU if you’d like to explore further:

https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/on-demand/loginI don’t know as much about the History course, but Liverpool has a rich and important history, including its role in the transatlantic slave trade and as the home port of the Titanic. Plus, Liverpool has the largest number of museums outside London, which I imagine makes studying History especially interesting:
