"Any other students or grads feeling completely lost right now?"

Honestly, it’s incredibly discouraging to see how many companies in the UK prioritize hiring “their own” — whether it’s through internal referrals, familiar universities, or local experience.

There are so many of us — fresh graduates and skilled professionals from abroad — who are capable, hardworking, and eager to contribute. But we’re constantly being overlooked simply because we don’t have “UK experience” or the right network.

It feels like the system quietly filters out anyone who doesn’t already fit a narrow mold, and it’s disheartening.

Everyone talks about diversity and inclusion, but when it comes to giving someone their first chance, especially in engineering and technical fields, the door often stays shut.

To the companies reading this: please remember, talent doesn’t come with a postcode.
If you want fresh ideas and global perspectives, you have to look beyond your usual circle.
