What is the most useful university degree?

Are there any specific degrees seen as less useful - for someone who doesn’t know what to do for a career? I was thinking of doing Law at Uni, but I was told that doing a subject like English Literature is more useful for other careers and I could soon do a conversion course. Basically is Law a sought after degree? Particularly if I paired it with French?
And are there any other courses that you’d recommend? Thanks!!!

Most degrees aren't really 'useful'

A medical degree is essential for becoming a doctor, but in most cases (law, english, french, maths) the degree doesn't really provide you with much directly or at all. having a law degree is only the first step in becoming a lawyer. english is not really going to teach you anything for any job (not being derogatory - that's just not how jobs work, even if you're talking about being an english teacher)

Whichever degree you pick, it's going to be somewhat arduous, pretty expensive, and at the end of it you're going to be facing a new challenge. Pick one you like, with consideration to what you might want to learn or be qualified for for the future
