staying in school with a chronic illness

Hello everyone! I wanted to ask anyone who is suffering any sort of chronic illness or disability, how do you manage to keep up in school? Does you have any accommodations made by the school in case your absent for long periods of time? I just wanted to ask as I’ve been having digestive problems for the past few months and from the appointments and absences I’ve been having for the past few weeks, its becoming more and more likely this will be long term, and since I’m about to finish my first year on sixth form, I want to find ways to keep on top of my work without crashing, both physically and mentally. ^_^

Hey there, hope you are doing ok! I myself am a year 13 student who missed months of school over the course of GCSEs and Sixth form and like to think I'm doing ok academically. My first piece of advice would be to make sure there are effective forms of communication in place with your school and subject teachers. After meetings with parents and the school, we were able to have all classwork put online and any work I had done was emailed to them and marked alongside everyone else. It is a daunting step but definitely necessary in the long run. I would also try and identify a friend or someone you can message from each class if you have any questions or need to do a group study sesh with. Most importantly, I would make sure you learn how to learn by yourself. Considering you have a whole year, you have ample time to make sure you have the right methods so that you don't have to rely on classes and teachers anymore, this will prepare you for study leave and uni anyway. Please let me know if you have any specific questions too!

I totally get where you’re coming from balancing health issues with school is tough. Being open with your teachers about absences and deadlines really helps. Finding small ways to manage stress and energy can make a big difference. Also, supporting your body can boost your mental energy. I started using Mounjaro recently to help with energy and weight, and it’s made a difference. If you want to check it out, here’s where to Get Mounjaro Online.Take it one step at a time you’ve got this!

Thank you both for the replies! I really do appreciate it, and it will be a great help as I move forward.

If I may ask, do you have any tips for keeping moral, as not being in school consistently for months can feel quite debilitating. Sorry if this is too personal though ^_^”
