M.Sc. Computer science (online)

Hello,

I’m currently exploring Master’s degree courses in Computer Science and have shortlisted the University of Sunderland, the University of Wolverhampton, Abertay University, and the University of York. I have a few specific questions I hope you can help me clarify:

1. Summative Feedback: How and when is summative feedback typically provided to students during the course? Is there a standard turnaround time after assessments?

2. Course Descriptions vs. Actual Content: I have noticed some inconsistencies between what is promoted on your websites and what’s listed in the official course modules.

3. Course Depth and Nature: Many of the programs seem to be positioned as “conversion courses.” I’m trying to understand whether these degrees are designed primarily for students without a Computer Science background, or if they are also suitable for students looking for more advanced, in-depth studies in areas like software engineering, machine learning, or cybersecurity. Could you explain the intent and depth of these Master's courses?

I would appreciate any insights or clarification you can offer, as this will really help me make an informed decision.

Thank you in advance!
