New to QUB & Belfast Any Advice for an International Student?

I’m an incoming international student heading to Queen’s University Belfast this September to study Engineering. It’ll be my first time in Belfast.

I’ll be staying in university accommodation. From what I’ve read so far, BT9 seems to have the most social vibe and events, but I’d love to hear what people who’ve actually stayed there think!

Since I haven’t been to the UK or Belfast before, I was wondering if there are any tips or things I should know about:

The people and culture (anything to keep in mind as a newcomer) Student life at Queen’s—how easy is it to make friends? The environment (weather, cost of living, where to shop, etc.) Jobs/work opportunities for students Any places I should be aware of (fun spots, food, areas to avoid?) And just generally… what do you wish you knew before starting?

Hey I'm from NI and starting at Queen's in September too! I'm doing Software Engineering and hopefully staying in BT9 so we'll probably be in the same area? In terms of making friends, as long as you put yourself out there you've got nothing to worry about because everyone else is in the same boat and just as nervous. I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have!
