Bringing My Own Desk Chair to Uni – What to Do With the One Provided?

Hi all,

I’m (hopefully!) moving into a Band E Premium Ensuite room at Surrey this year and planning to bring my own desk chair, as I have persistent back pain and really need something more supportive for sitting long hours.

I know the room comes with a desk chair already - does anyone know what happens if you want to use your own instead? I’m unsure what to do with the provided one. I’d rather not take it off campus in case it gets damaged and I get charged, but I also don’t want to have it taking up space in the room all year.

Has anyone asked the accommodation team if they can store it for you? Or are you expected to just keep it in your room no matter what?

Would love to hear from anyone who's been in a similar situation, especially in Band E or similar setups. Thanks in advance!
