Med student 2025 entry ACCOM HELP

Hello,

I’ve firmed med at Cardiff and would like to choose accommodation, however I am pretty unaware on the details and experience fo living at different ones.

From what I’ve heard, The whole Talybont area, Heath campus and Clodien house are the most popular.

I’d say I am a very social person and would like to meet lots of new people, but I am not much of a party guy. I don’t know how transport works but I’m happy to walk but I would not like to be too far as I care about my sleep 😂

I know there is an option for quite living but what does that mean? Is it just mean no parties in the household or something else?

And just to confirm, Med students mostly study at the Heath campus?

Sorry for all the questions, in a bit of a panic!

heyyy im also going to cardiff uni but im local. id say in terms of transport u dont have to worry about walking, i literally live on using the buses they are so so reliable and come every 10 mins . and if you do end up getting an accom in heath, there’s a train station in heath that goes right into town!! and from what im aware yes , med students study at heath campus as it is heath hospital.

Ok that’s good to know 😂 also I wanted to ask what Heath campus was, as when looking on my options there doesn’t seem to be a Heath campus residence option?

Hi there!

Well done on your offer first of all!

So Talybont is around a 30 minute walk away from Heath Campus. Clodien House, which is based in Health, is much closer and is only a 5 minute walk away. They both have their pros and cons - Talybont is closer to student life and the Student Union, whilst Clodien is closer to the Hospital and where your lectures will be. I'd reckon they'd both be pretty good options socially - there will be lots of opportunities to meet people!

Quiet living means that everyone in a particular flat has also expressed an interest in a quiet living environment. The university asks that in this accommodation, the volume of televisions and audio equipment are kept low and to be especially considerate late at night and during exam periods.

Hope that helps
