shapes of molecules tips a level chem help

does anyoen have any tips on learning the shapes of molecules for aqa a level chem - I understand the shapes and the way the BP and LP repel but I get so confused when I get asked to work out the shape of a molecule in a question, esp for non - typical shapes

I do OCR A a level chem but we get the same kinds of questions sometimes. What I do is I try to draw out the molecule that they've given me (if they haven't already given a diagram of it). Then if the central atom has any lone pairs of electrons I add them onto the diagram. Using that you can work out how many BP and LP are around the central atom and work out the shape from there.
