Plymouth uni

I got into optometry with a foundation year as an alternative choice for uni. I’m really not sure about Plymouth. When seeing their Islamic base and even isoc it doesn’t seem as good other unis. I’m just not sure if it’s a uni fit for me. Anyone have any idea on how diverse it is, if there’s many halal food options what study life is like ect . Thank it would be so helpful

Me too. Honestly by the looks of it online it doesn’t seem crazy diverse. It does suck as that was so important for me. I saw they don’t have any official masjid or even many halal places. I really don’t wanna go by the looks of it, but at the same time I also don’t have a choice as it’s the last hope to getting into uni. I could go into clearing but how sure I’ll get in to anything then, I have no clue. What’s your plans? Did you initially plan to apply for optometry?

yes that’s the same with me! cardiff is my insurance as it’s near me but the grades are too high and i don’t qualify for the foundation so i firmed plymouth cos of that! i applied for the normal optom course at plymouth-got rejected and then applied for the normal at uwe and cardiff and got offers. then applied for herts foundation and plym foundation and got offers (plym obvs not confirmed)

Hi there! As a current Plymouth student, I just answered a similar question on this thread which might be helpful to have a look at 😊

As far as study life goes, it depends on what your favourite study methods/locations are like and what atmosphere you prefer- I enjoy late nights studying at the library as it's the time I work best and there is a nice focused atmosphere here. Other areas like the SU, LabPlus+ and cafés are popular spots for getting work done. If you're more of a 9-5 person, the university timetable is often scheduled for most courses to fit into a working week so you can complete any independent study and coursework around lectures and not have to do much/any university work on the weekends/evenings, so it's up to personal preference! 📚️

If you have any more questions or anything more you'd like to know, feel free to reach out! 🙌
