I'd encourage you to to look at what you want the Chancellor to do - bring in funding/research/media/schmooze etc. - and use this criteria to evaluate each candidate, do you can make an informed decision.

If you cannot decide, do not vote for any of them.

I'd also go with Mohamed El-Erian. In my very limited in-person interactions with him in his roles at Allianz and Gramercy, he's always come across as extremely fair and competent. His FT articles are usually a good read too, as are his Bloomberg Surveillance appearances.
