How to get an A star in AQA Bio?

I do OCR A bio so I won't be able to provide much help with topics like the essay but here are some general tips.

Do you know what topics you're stuck on or the types of questions you keep getting wrong? If you do that's great bc you have a starting point for revision. If you're not sure on content, prioritise that first and just keep going until you're confident on it.

If you feel that you know the content then it could just be exam technique or the way that your answers are written (this is something I struggle with a lot). What I'm doing now is looking at model answers on PMT and seeing how they are different from my answers. Most of the time your answers may not have the detail and specific subject terminology required or you've written the same thing but with extra waffle which can waste time. Once you know how to write the correct answers effectively, you can get extra time to use for checking your answers.

Do the same thing with the essays. look at your past essays and look at model answers for the same questions. What did they do differently to you and how did that enable them to get a higher mark?

All the best for A Levels 👍️

Exam practice, exam practice, exam practice. AQA is notorious for having very specific mark schemes which can sometime seem contrived or overly-prescriptive regarding the awarding of specific marks. It's not enough to just know the content: you have to know how to apply the content you've learned in the context of the question to gain the relevant marks. This can only be achieved by diligent work with past papers and paying close attention to the mark schemes to show exactly how the marks have been awarded, and which keywords are required (also, which answers are explicitly not accepted).
