Some Cardiff university questions

Hi all,

I have an offer from Cardiff university and I have a couple of questions:
1) I have applied for my accommodation what feels like ages and ages ago, is there a rough date on when we'll get news on which dorm we'll be getting?
2) What options are there for insurance of items within our dorms?
3) What laundry washing/drying services do the uni and the city provide?

@CardiffUni Rep 2 will be able to answer questions 2 and 3. Usually with question 2 any items of value you would be best getting some contents insurance for. For question 1 there might not be an answer, what (precisely) is Cardiff's accommodation guarantee?

Thanks for the tag!

So for question 1, the official deadline to receive/accept your unconditional offer to study is 29th August. That being said, I received my offer early-mid August? So you'd probably be expecting an offer around that time. This page here will have all information on accommodation timelines, if that's of any help!

Question 2 - some contents insurance (ie., personal possessions) is offered within the dorms, provided by Howden Insurance. If you wanted to check what exactly what it covers, I recommend going to this page, as you will be able to check the insurance certificate itself :smile:

Question 3 - So in all university-owned student accommodation, and in most privately owned student accommodation, there is Circuit Laundry, which is provided inside the accommodation. Its quite neat since you can check which machines are being used live on their website. If you decide to go into student housing after first year, they usually provide a washing machine in the house itself. Otherwise, there are a few launderettes that are dotted around - however, I've never had to use this.
