The Student Room Group

NTU

I am a student who has applied to Nottingham Trent Uni and my conditions are BBC for electrical engineering for bachelors. I'm an international student, and I'm most likely to receive a CDD or CCD due to some extra circumstances related to my country, Pakistan, being at war for around a week during the exams, which significantly affected almost every student here, as many papers were also canceled. I was wondering if I would still be accepted with a CCD or a CDD, as even on UCAS it states that the average grade for people accepted for this degree is CCD. Would I be accepted or no

Hi there,

Your country's situation has been in the news here too, and I'm really sorry that this is happening and interfering with your educational circumstances.

There are no guarantees that anyone will still be accepted if they miss their offers and this varies uni to uni and how popular your course is that year. However most unis do look into people who narrowly miss the conditions of their offer and may still accept them if there is room. So whilst I would try to do your best to get the grades they're asking for there is still a chance if you do not achieve your BBC. Just make sure that you ring up and tell your uni about your circumstances as soon as possible.

I wouldn't take too much from historical entry grades as this includes contextual offers which are typically lower than the standard asking grades.

@Nottingham Trent Uni @NTU Rep @Nottingham Trent University @Nottingham Trent may be able to advise more specifically.

I hope this helps and best of luck!

If your studies have been impacted by the situation in Pakistan, then you can ask both your Firm and Insurance Uni to take this into account. Your school or college needs to send a formal email to each of them explaining what has happened. Ask them to do this now - do not wait until you have your results.

Hi @ahmedatif,

Our thoughts are with you, I can imagine this has been an extremely stressful time.

When we receive your exam results, we'll consider your grades against the offer we have made. If you don't meet the requirements, we will re-assess your full application and circumstances to see if we can accept you with the grades you've achieved. We consider these circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Therefore, please try not to panic if you don't achieve your predicted grades, as we may still be able to offer you a place on your desired course. Alternatively, if you do not receive a place on your chosen course, you could always explore what courses are available with us through Clearing.

As well as this, if you've experienced a significant disruption I'd recommend reviewing our mitigating circumstances information. We also advise speaking to your school or college, as they may be able to provide further supporting information, as well as inform you if the exam board or awarding body will be taking into account any disruptions or challenges in grading decisions.

We're wishing you all the best over the coming months, let us know if you have any questions. You can also always speak to our Admissions team for more in depth advice about your application.
