Here's Why You should attend Open Days at University!

Have you ever gotten an email from a university you're interested in saying they're having an Open Day? Perhaps you have hesitated and wondered what is the point of going. And to that, I'd say there are so many benefits!

Hi everyone! I'm Tarra, a postgraduate law student doing Bar Vocational Studies (BVS) here at City St George's and as a student ambassador with experience working on Open Days, I'd like to share why I think going to Open Days is so beneficial!

Firstly, you get to physically step onto campus and get a feel of the environment where you will be studying in. This is really important as you need an environment that you like to guarantee the best student experience. Sometimes, there also tends to be guided tours around campus by student ambassadors and you can even get a glimpse of lecture halls and how your classrooms will look like, which will give you valuable information in helping you decide whether you'd like to study here for the next few years!

Secondly, going for Open Days enables you to attend important talks and seminars on the course you are interested in, so that you can be better informed of what you will be learning, whether or not it meets your expectations, and if it suits your needs.

Finally, going to an Open Day enables you to meet your future lecturers and tutors, and get a feel for what they are like as well as your expectations going into the university. They are also the people whom you could ask any questions that you may have in regards to the course of your interest, or even on general matters related to the university!

Overall, going to an Open Day gives you vital information on a university's campus layout, study environment, and your course and subjects which will help you greatly in forming an opinion on whether you would choose that university for the long term!
