Student finance application denied

I applied for student finance this month, and my application was denied because I didn’t meet this criteria:

‘Have been ordinarily and lawfully resident in the UK and Islands throughout
the 3 year period preceding the start of your course‘

I have been living in the UK since 2015 February when I was just 8 years old, I had to take a gap year last year because we hadn’t received any decision from the home office. 2024 August, home office sent us a letter which granted us LLR until February 2027 under the 5 year route to private life. I don’t understand how I’m not eligible for student finance when I have been living in the UK for nearly all of my school and college life.

Hi there, what country are you originally from? The limited leave to remain may not cover under the required 3 years residency, plus also the break in residency would have an impact on the 3 years required. Thanks, Stephen.

I have continuously lived in the Uk since 2015 without any breaks.

Hi there, for to speak to someone with regards to your status eligibility the only way you can do this is either over the phone or via live chat as we do not have account access via social media portals. To access our live chat service from your online account, select 'undergraduate' and then ‘contact us’. From here you will be able to use our live chat service when it is available. Our opening hours are stated on our ‘contact us’ page and an advisor can assist you to check this. Thanks, Stephen.
