st john's or keble college oxford..... or any others? help!

i'm applying for history and politics at oxford but tbh I have no idea which college to apply for.

looking at the admissions stats per college for my course I think I've narrowed it down to st john's or keble, although they're quite different colleges. but also a few others like brasenose and new are on my radar.

i'm an international student applying from australia and would really appreciate if anyone has some advice on this!

St. John's College, Oxford, is the richest college in the entire Oxford University. So, they have the cheapest food, drink and accommodation as well as a £400 book grant per term. 😉

Hiya! It's great you've narrowed down some of the colleges already. I guess the main thing to ask yourself is what do you want out of your living experience at Oxford (if you're made an offer!)? Colleges are the primary place for eating, sleeping, and socialising - that's the way I see it, anyway! So what kinda things are important for you? For example:

Are you sporty? Do you want gym facilities/sports pitches within your college? Do you need to be near(er) to the Iffley Road sports provisions?

Do you want kitchen access? An en suite room? Grass you can walk on?

As an international student, do you want/need to be accommodated for all three years of the course? As not all colleges would be able to do this.

Questions you'd particularly want to delve into is provision at each college you're considering, for international students: as Australia is so far from the UK, I'd imagine you wouldn't be flying back there every single holiday. So it's probably important to try and find out which colleges might let you stay during some holidays and which colleges have storage spaces you could keep your stuff in, for times you'd have to vacate your room! (Hiring storage facilities within Oxford can add up financially very quickly, is my understanding, as it's quite expensive!)
