Mocks: what were your experiences like?

Hiiiii

I'm sitting my mocks very soon and was wondering if anyone had any advice or any memorable experiences you had during your mocks? Are they important as the school makes them seen or do they not matter too much?

Thank you

Year 10 or Year 12? Year 10 don't matter at all, Year 12 matter quite a bit, especially if you want to go to a top uni

Year 10. Thanks for replying!

Do they use Y10 mocks to calculate predicted grades?

No, predicted grades are only from year 12 mocks and sometimes GCSEs results, why would anyone care about year 10 mocks?

They dont matter as much as everyone will act like they do, especially in year 10 :giggle: They are often used for sixth form prospective grades, so make sure your focus is on the grades you might need for applications. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t get these though, sixth forms and teachers submitted grades can be lenient as you still have a year before GCSEs!
My advice would be to use them to see what works for you- try different ways of revising, exam paragraph structures, a new way of organising yourself etc during the mock season and then reflect for next time.

personally i remember year 10 mocks being very stressful for multiple reasons : 2-3 exams in one day, doing it for the first time, being worried i will move sets, or get outperformed. I also remember A LOT OF TEARS but now I'm sitting my gcses and honestly id say mocks is more intense then the real thing.
if you feel stressed or worried its perfectly fine but don't make the same mistake as i did and think year 10 mocks is the most serious thing in the world.
my school didn't really care about mocks all they used it for was parents evening and set changes. Always remember when your done with these mocks the most relevant data the school cares about you is your year 11 nov mocks and when your done with those the school will only care about the proper gcses so if it goes bad ( touch wood it doesn't) always know there is more to come
whether your aiming for the highest of grades or 5s just make sure you make that week as relaxing as possible don't be pulling all nighters like i did. itss awfulllll. when its over give your self a good pat on the back and reward yourself!
good luck you got this!
