Churches in Liverpool

I am going to study at LIPA in Liverpool in September. I was wondering if anyone one could recommend any churches good for students in Liverpool.

Thank you in advance:smile:

Edit: I suddenly realised I should put that I am a Baptist and whilst I do respect more traditional denominations my key interest is in more like minded churches tho saying all that I am open to new things if the community is welcoming enough.

Hello!

I am not a particularly religious person myself so I do not have any personal recommendations however I have googled around the topic and here’s a few I’ve found!

St James Church: it’s in the city and has a very welcoming community and “vibrant congregation”

Bridge Chapel: on Heath Road, South Liverpool, an evangelical church with strong student ministries, offers student support and life support groups

St Barnabas Church: Penny Lane, warm and active anglican Church, known for its community involvement and inclusivity.

I’m sure there’s a few more so just have a look around and see what you can find!!

Hope this helps,
Katy,

(What would make a church good for students? 🤔 )

The Cathedrals both hold mass and have thriving city centre communities.

Not half died ones with a congregation of 10 to 20 people (no offence intended to smaller churches with a mostly just older congregation but this is personally not what I am looking for)

Hiya!

I’m not based in Liverpool myself, but it might be worth checking out if LIPA or nearby universities have any religious societies. We have quite a few Christian based societies at DMU, and one of my friends found them a great way to meet like-minded students and also learn about local churches through other students.

Just thought I’d suggest it in case you hadn’t come across or even thought about faith societies. Also, perhaps see if there are prayer rooms on site at your campus that could be another great way to meet other students and find out about local churches

Hope this helps and gives a bit of inspiration

I know there's a Baptist church on the Breck Road, but that's a rough part of town in Anfield. I think there's one In Kenny on/near Coleridge St as well, but again quite rough round there. Page Moss has one, as does Dovecote, both areas quite tetchy so keep your wits about you. There's one by Princes Park, Belvidere. At least I think that's Baptist these days. You'd be fine there.

I know of maybe two more (there might be more, I dunno), one in Speke (which is again, a bit of a hole), and one by Sefton park - or there used to be one by Sefton park. It's nicer round that way, loads of students around in Aigburth too.
