How to cram effectively???

Hi there!

My advice would be to take short and frequent breaks during studying sessions as it is great to spend time on studying, but is important to keep your mind fresh to take the information in. For me personally, I found it most useful to try and fit in past papers on the run up to exams and then go over the mistakes, focusing my attention on those.

It's also important to take care of yourself during exam time! Taking breaks and rest is well needed.

I hope this helped. Good luck!

Hi,

Cramming isn’t ideal, but if you're short on time and need to get stuff into your head quickly, it can be done it’s all about being strategic. First, focus on high-yield topics. Don’t try to learn everything, look at past papers, mark schemes, or your spec and pick out the stuff that comes up most often. Prioritise what’s likely to actually appear in the exam.

Then use active recall methods, don’t just read or highlight. Try blurting (write out everything you know about a topic from memory), flashcards, or quick-fire quizzes. Even teaching it out loud to yourself helps it stick way more than passive revision. Time yourself using something like the Pomodoro method (25 mins study, 5 min break). It keeps your brain focused and stops you from burning out too fast. If you’ve got a few hours, aim for 2–3 topics per session, depending on how long they are.

For subjects like Science or Maths, do as many past paper questions as possible. They show you the kind of language the examiners use and get you used to applying what you’ve learned.
Also: don’t stay up all night. You need your brain functioning for the actual exam. A solid sleep and a short recap the morning of the exam can sometimes help more than an all-nighter.

Good luck!

Hi Anom,

I completely agree with other comments stating frequent, short study sessions. Breaks are super important, I personally found it helped me digest the information better 📚️.

I see you have already had some excellent recommendations. One way I crammed information was actually youtube videos 🎥. I would find trusted creators who have produced content covering various topics, often per exam paper. I'd have these on 1.5 x speed and I found it extremely beneficial to have someone else explain it to me.

I hope this helps, please feel free to ask me any questions,
