Proving classification as independent student

Hi,

I was wondering what counts as suitable evidence for proving/qualifying as estranged for SFE. I don't qualify under the 12 months parameter, but have been advised that in my situation I should apply as an independent student. I have reports from police cases and a copy of the social services strategy discussion about my case, which specifically involved ABH, child neglect and domestic violence from my parents. I also have a social worker but they have not been in communication for a good while. The case is still ongoing and under monitoring from social services (or at least they claim to) as well. I'm wondering if this evidence would be enough to apply as an estranged student?

I can also contact my sixth form wellbeing advisor as they were the person I went to when my parents made me homeless three times (I however was forced back under their roof as to not make myself "deliberately homeless" despite the case). The advice and documentation seems case-by-case but also means that it's not clear whether or not I should classify myself as such in my application.

Thanks

Hi there,

Every case is different and the assessors does review these so we can never confirm 100% that's why we advise on a case by case basis - should they require further information. If you are sending the estrangement for: i've enclosed the 25/26 one https://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/2526/ft/sfe_confirmation_of_estrangement_form_2526_o.pdf

The counter signer can advise the above in the section that they complete for this to be review and updated.

Thanks, Jason
