University Of Nottingham GCSE requirements

Hi there. I am currently holding an offer at kings college London but have reconsidered my course choice and would potentially like to apply to Nottingham during clearing as my preference to start in September. The course id like to apply to if available like last yr is Finance accounting and management. However, the course requirements for GCSE maths is a 6 and despite having majority GCSE grades at 6 or above my maths is only a 5. I’m studying 3 A levels consisting off Economics, Business and Sociology. Could I still apply through clearing? Any help would be great.

Ask Nottingham now whether their maths GCSE requirement is fixed, even in clearing.

If a 6 in maths is needed then its a show-stopper. Firstly, Nottingham may not enter clearing - its a very popular university. Secondly, the first thing they will ask is for your A level grades then your GCSE English and Maths grades. If you have only a 5 then it will go no further.

As I said above, only asked bc Nottingham admissions themselves said they make exceptions based on what A levels you take and the circumstances. Didn’t think they would normally but seeing them say that made me wonder.

Its worth emailing them to clarify and also ask if they will be going into clearing for your subject. If you dont ask, you will never know
