Missed Bristol offer

I’m doing my a levels and hope to go to Bristol for English in September, the offer is AAA. i feel like I might miss the requirement by one grade. How lenient are Bristol for English? Also has anyone gotten in to English by missing one grade. If I called them up on results day and they couldn’t offer me a place, would it be possible to switch to English and philosophy considering it is prob less competitive? Help xx

hey  checking the ucas course page, in the past around 80% of people who got AAB still managed to get into Bristol's English course, so you might still have a good chance of keeping your place
any which way, it's always worth calling them up if you don't immediately get in, especially if you only miss it by one grade!
best wishes

(the English/Philosophy course doesn't have as much data available on past grades and acceptance, but only 60% of AAA applicants got into that course so idk if it is less competitive :/ )

It will depend on if there are any spaces to fill on the course once those who have met their conditions have been accepted. Then they will decide whether to accept near-miss offer holders. Unis get your results several days before results day so the decision you receive on results day is final. If you are rejected, there is no point ringing to plead your case.

If you are rejected by Bristol and you receive a confirmed place from your insurance, you would need to consider if it is worth rejecting this place to enter clearing if the English and philosophy course is available at Bristol.

Try not to overthink at this stage and enjoy your summer holidays.

It's pointless ringing if the decision has been made - see my previous post.
The only reason to call one of your choices on results day is if:
a) they haven't posted a decision on Hub
b) they've rejected you, but you want to discuss another course with them
