UCB vs University of Wolverhampton for Business Management — Need Advice!

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to decide between University College Birmingham (UCB) and the University of Wolverhampton for a Business Management degree. I have got offers for both and a deadline in a few days. My priorities are:

A good university reputation that will help me get a job more easily after graduation

A supportive and friendly learning environment with good tutor support

A course that is practical and coursework-based, rather than exam-heavy

A nice student life

Could anyone share their experience or advice on which university might be better suited for me based on these preferences?

Thank you

Which course do you find most interesting? Compare the modules and optional modules for both courses and think about what you would take if you went there.

Do the courses offer a placement year? This is what will add to your graduate CV, not the perceived reputation of the university.

Definitely avoid Wolverhampton. You don't even have to take my word for it, there are many reports from students here discussing how horrible they are.

Hi @ayaah_xo

It's great to see you know what you want from a uni!

When it comes to seeing if its practical and coursework based, head onto the university website and look at their business and management courses on their course pages. Somewhere on the page there should be an area showing how the courses is marked. Additionally I recommend checking out the modules and optional modules so you can see which course aligns with your goals better.

When it comes to student life, check the societies the university offers on their student union website. This way you can see if any align with your interests or if you want to try something new!

If reputation is super important to you, check out some league tables and take into account Birmingham is a Russel group.

Hopefully students from the university can give you some information on the learning environment, but I hope this helps!

Please feel free to ask me any questions,
-Sophia (University of Central Lancashire)
