Is it possible to get into med with A*AA specifically icl ucl kcl

Hi everyone,

I’m predicted A*AA at A-level and wondering if it’s realistic to get into medicine with those predicted grades. I know some unis ask for AAA, others want AAA including specific subjects, and some want straight A*s.

Does anyone have experience or advice about applying with A*AA? Are there good medical schools that accept these predictions, or should I be worried? Any tips on strengthening my application beyond grades?

Thanks a lot!

Forget everyone else, look at the uni requirements if you meet them you are fine and you will have your own personal statement and experiences. Plus the interview stage will contribute way more to your application, make sure you prep for that

Also can I add , UCAT is more important.

if you meet the minimum requirement which you will find in their website ( like UCL ask for A*AA A* in bio or chem then all of applicants will be in the same and they will look at UCAT( the higher the better ).

So make sure you are predicted A* in Bio or Chem then work on your UCAT, After your interview technique .

How do you know whether all applicants are looked at the same if they meet the entry requirement for ucl and is this universal for all unis

If you go through website it will tell you if they treat everyone the same , https://www.ucl.ac.uk/medical-sciences/divisions/medical-school/study/undergraduate/mbbs-admissions

every univ have there own way of doing things. try to find the documents that they discuss admission and read it. I found there website very helpful , mainly the videos like this one. (but this last year so they may change so register to this year one ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVX8Dxcm8H8

Pls give advice So my school has decided predicted grades andI’m at A* A* B . In bio chem and mathsrespectively. I rlly wanna apply for medicine thisyear, I haven’t been doing so well in maths tho. Myschool says they have a no leniency policy aboutpredicted grades, and they won’t change predictedgrades after the summer. But say if I do rlly well inmy ucat, do u think I could convince my teacher tochange my predicted grade from B to an A?? Bc ifI get a high ucat , and I’m already predicted A* A*in bio and chem - maths is the only thing stoppingme. If I don’t get A in maths then I have to take agap year just bc of my maths grade 💔

try explain to the head of learning instead of the teacher of that subject maybe, how its important to you and you wanna apply to medical school. Hopefully they listen

in uk medicine grades don't mean anything, its simply a minimum standard for the academic demands of the course. i dont know of any med school out of the 40 or so medical schools in the uk (except for exeter, maybe a couple more i dont know about) who scale/weigh a level predicted grades into the selection process.

theyre looking for capable people, not machines. i can assure you A*AA will get you into any med school in the uk except cambridge (who require A*A*A predicted)

UCAS has a feature, if you scroll down for your intended course, showing most commonly accepted grades and below that you can input your expected grades and it shows the percentage of offer holders who got in with those grades.
