What to do for Coursework for full marks (Advice)

My friends from the year below have asked me what to do for their History coursework, well my answer to that is very simple.

Usually you would be directed to choose a topic that the school has recommended. Personally I chose a topic that reflected something I was interested and a huge part of my country’s history. Make sure it is broad enough for at least 4000 words (trust me the extra paragraph matters) and that it is thematically structured. Although historians are important it is easier to structure and analyse when you have a theme and a counter theme in one paragraph. Aiming for about 7-8 historians overall.

If you have trouble finding reliable historians for this topic a little cheat code is to search your topic up and use Wikipedia, this is because they reference everything at the bottom so you can accurately pick out what you need for your arguments. Finally, don’t be afraid to use niche historians (make sure they are reliable) they offer a lot of good insight into issues the more established ones may skim over.
Overall my tips are that you should choose something you are passionate about and is a bit more niche compared to the questions in your school, don’t be afraid to go over 4000 (I hit 4364) , write your coursework thematically and include your main point for the paragraph as well as a counter point.

I got 40/40 in my coursework and that was my mindset and my rules for how to structure and craft it. For Year 1s doing history I definitely recommend this.
