Here it is - some aren't in as much detail, if u have any questions lmk I have the answers just cba to write all of it out

For an Advanced Country (AC) city you have studied, explain how international migration has changed the character of the city. (6 marks)

Brick Lane/Southall - Food, Fashion, Balti Triangle

Over 300,000 Indians, 340,000 Caribbeans

Jewish influence in East End, more synagogues, bagel shops

Examine the effects of migration on an LIDC or EDC city. (6 marks)

Not enough jobs/housing - slums like Makoko

Strain on healthcare
[list="1"]

For an LIDC or EDC city you have studied, evaluate how one contemporary challenge impacts on everyday life in the city. (6 marks)

Traffic in Lagos - no public transport means people wait hours in traffic.
[list="1"]

Means reduced productivity as less time spent working more commuting

More pollution (emitting fumes while idle) - causing respiratory problems, acid rain and climate change (nitrous oxides + carbon monoxides)

For an Advanced Country (AC) city you have studied, explain how one contemporary challenge affects life in the city. (6 marks)

Housing crisis

11X income to buy house, huge demand

People pushed out of London to have to face long commutes

Or live in low quality housing, causing health issues (asthma from poor ventilation) or anxiety/stress from lack of space/privacy, especially in kids

Explain the importance of an AC city within its country and the wider world (6 marks)

London in country

Financial hub - Bank of England,, 20% of GDP in London.

Political status - 73 MPs out of 650 in UK, host G7/NATO meetings, house

London in wider world

Major Financial Hub - London Stock Exchange, Canary Wharf HSBC, Citibank headquarters - Influences global decisions in finance

G7/Nato

Media: Almost all major television networks HQs in London (BBC, ITV, Sky), shape global media

Examine how ways of life vary within one LIDC or EDC city. (8 marks)
[list]

Highly priced vs Informal Property Market

Access to basic services (clean water, sanitation, education) not in Makoko

Public transport (cab service), bad buses in Makoko

For an Advanced Country (AC) you have studied, discuss one initiative to make the city more sustainable. (6 marks)
[list]

ULEZ - Reduce air pollution, carbon dioxide/methane

49% decrease in NO2 emissions from 2016-2023

Explain how the wider political, environmental and social context affected the development of your named country. (6)

Warring tribes from colonial influence, gov has to spend money on maintaining stability, cause destruction in infrastructure, further spending

Land degradation - less crop yields, less food

Discuss the extent to which global connections have influenced the LIDC’s development. (6)

Yihai Kerry Group

Tariffs/TNCs exploited by developed countries

For an LIDC you have studied, assess the extent to which a country’s politics has been the greatest influence on its development. (6)

For: Corruption siphons money away from public services

Against: Land-locked, Land degradation

For an LIDC you have studied, evaluate how successful a development strategy has been. (6)
[list]

MDGs

Good: Extreme poverty rate from 56% to 24% from 2000 to 2015

Good: Primary school enrolment from 60 to 90%

Bad: Only 35% of Ethiopians had skilled birth attendants

Bad: 70% have limited access to clean water
[list="1"]

For an LIDC country which you have studied, explain how international trade has influenced its development. (6)

Yihai Kerry - 130 million in sesame seeds + coffee

Trade tariffs exploited (10% from US) especially for machinery - Ethiopia reliant

Trade deficit as well - more susceptible to default - less gov investment fr development

Evaluate how similar the Malthus and Boserup theories are. (6 marks)

Similar: Both predict exponential increases in population + food supply influenced by population pressure, but the way they think we will react is different

Different: Malthus predicts that human innovation will not increase, while Boserup predicts innovation will rise to match population

For a country you have studied, explain how food security is achieved by one method at a local scale. (6 marks)

Felix Project

Equivalent of 38 million meals given across London in 2024

Supported 1,200 community orgs

50% contained fruit and vegetables, nutritious

Analyse the success of one attempt to achieve food security at a local scale. (6 marks)

Success: 38 million meals, over 1,200 community orgs, over 50% meals had food and veg

Failure: Relies on funding + surplus food waste, can be hard to get consistent support

Evaluate the success of one technological strategy to sustainably improve food security (6 marks)

Hydroponics

Requires less space - best in cities

Grows without soil, uses nutrient rich water

Uses less water, best in drought prone regions or areas which are prone to land degradation

However, requires constant energy input + technical expertise

So it is expensive + requires good knowledge of farming to be effective

Assess how far food security has been achieved at a local scale in your chosen country. (8 marks)

For -83% of population classed as food secure, diverse supply chain in over 200 countries

Against - water scarcity + land degradation increasing issues in south of England - recent droughts have caused lower yields of potatoes and wheat, driving up costs
