Sports science - lboro or st Mary’s ?

Currently living in London and have unconditional and conditional for 2 sports courses at Lboro and also SS at St Mary’s Twickenham x I love living in London right now (on another course) and am unsure whether to jump to Lboro - change in lifestyle, campus life and because it’s the ‘best’ - and use my two choices there or include StMarys in my two choices x any experience of these unis from anyone ? Also contact time is important StM course only stating 20 with 80 independent study - any advise !! ??

You say you have "unconditional and conditional for 2 sports courses at Lboro and also SS at St Mary’s Twickenham". So that's three offers, right? One unconditional at Loughborough, one conditional at Loughborough, and one conditional at St. Mary's Twickenham. Have I got that right?

Do the two conditional offers have the same conditions? Are you confident of meeting those conditions?

Ultimately only you can make this decision, as it's you who has to weigh the desire to continue living in London with the desire to attend Loughborough "because it’s the ‘best’" for sports degrees.

By the way, a 20:80 ratio of contact hour to independent study hours is not unusual. What do Loughborough quote for their two courses?

Hi yes that’s right - so the two conditional offers - 1 at lboro is their SCAPE course and need a better grade for the other course at Lboro but the stMarys will take me as I am -if that makes sense ! So 2 out of 3 are as my current grades and 1 lboro offer (SS course) with an increased grade x looks like the timetables I’ve been provided with at Lboro their courses look to be about 40% contact time on SS course and on their SCAPE course about 25%.
I’m currently at a conservatoire doing 9-6 more or less DAILY ! So I’m used to a full on timetable so as u can. Imagine going from 100% to 80/20 will be a bit difference!
I suppose on future job prospects how much difference will it make for a degree from
Lboro or one from St Mary’s ?

By SCAPE, I'm going to assume you mean Sport Science, Coaching and Physical Education.

Establishing job prospects is notoriously hard. This is partly because the published information is quite dated, and partly because correlation is not causation. (If the students from a particular university tend to end up in better jobs, is that because of the university they attended, or did they pick that university because they thought it would lead to a better job, but it actually had no impact and they would have done well anyway?)

I would expect Loughborough graduates to be more in demand than St. Mary's graduates, but I have no evidence to back that up.

Do any of your offers include a placement year? If job prospects is a key consideration, then choose the one with a placement year. That's more likely to have an impact on your job prospects than is the university itself.
