Cardiff Uni Accommodation

I’ve only just accepted my offer and selected my accommodation choices. Does this mean I’m unlikely to get the accommodation I want because I’m a bit late?

Hiya!

Congratulations on receiving an offer and accepting!
No the accommodations are randomly assigned, and as long as you have submitted before the deadline you should not be penalised for that. Regardless of time, your top choice is of course not guaranteed.
If you are based in the Heath (medical) Campus, they will prioritise giving you accommodation closer to the Heath Campus.

What are you going to study?
Any other questions? 🙂

Hi, I also have some concerns regarding the first year accommodation, but for medics. I've done a lot of looking around but I can't see anything that explicitly states the final day of the year for people doing medicine, so I was wondering if a 40 week contract is suitable? 44 is ideal but I too am applying a bit late so I may have a lack of choice. I have one preference down in Clodien House but I need to put 9 more before I can proceed. Do you have any advice? Thanks.

Hi!

Yeah 44 week is what is offered most commonly in uni accommodation, 40 week (i'm assuming would end in June), does definitely run the risk of missing some final exams, as medicine students especially will often have exams at the start of June - the examination period ends on the 12th of June in 2026 (see more term dates here). Here are some other options:

University Halls is not too far from Heath, has en-suites

Talybont Gate, is quite modern, with a bigger bed (and en-suite) and would be the closest of the Talybonts, to Heath

Talybont North is also quite close to Heath and nice

Talybont Court, is also nice and has en-suites

The Talybonts, also have the main sports facilities if you are interested in that too!
See this document for more details, and a map at the end!

I hope this helps, good luck, Any other questions let us know!
