Are my GCSEs good enough for Russell group?

If I were to get A*A*A* at A level and wanted to do economics at a Russell group university (e.g. Birmingham, Exeter), would my GCSEs (88877666555 with 8 in Maths and 7 in English) be a significant problem?

Gcses probably good enough except for LSE/Oxbridge (although they consider your school context as well). Most unis only look at the min. requirements or don't weight them too heavily even if they do consider them.

Hi refrigeration

Great to see you are considering Exeter for your studies.

Each of our course pages clearly indicates the GCSE English requirements to go alongside the three A-levels we ask for. Click here to see the full Entry requirements. Note the specific subject requirement (Maths) at A-level.

For BSc Economics we ask for grade 4 in GCSE English language.

Don't forget we have our course variants for a year abroad or Industrial Experience. There may also be an opportunity to take modules from another subject area with our options for Module Choice and Modularity

If you haven't already visited for an open day please do consider our two dates in October. Open Days and visiting

Your GCSEs would be fine for any university except perhaps LSE or Oxford which do tend to weight them a bit more heavily.

Cambridge, UCL, Warwick, Nottingham, Bristol all should be fine. Why limit yourself to weaker economics departments...?
