UEA Village Accom

Hi

UEA is one of my main options for September & if I end up choosing it I was wondering if anyone knows which Village block is the best? e.g. Elm, Yew, Willow, Pine etc - I know you can't individually choose, but I'm still curious! As, I know that some may be more modern or refurbished than other village blocks.

Also, isn't there a block like specifically for med students & if so which is it?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Great to hear you're considering UEA. The Village is a really popular choice and has a friendly, residential feel that lots of students enjoy.

In terms of blocks, Pine and Willow tend to be the most recently refurbished, so people often say they feel a bit more modern inside. That said, all the Village blocks offer similar layouts, it’s more about condition than huge structural differences. Some rooms will have slightly newer furniture or kitchen updates, but nothing majorly different in floor plan.

As for medical students, there’s no official "med-only" block, but many med students request The Village because of how close it is to the Bob Champion Research and Education Building, where a lot of their teaching takes place. So you’ll naturally find more med students there, especially in Pine and Willow.

You can’t choose a specific block when applying, but you can leave preferences or comments in the application form, so it’s worth mentioning if you'd prefer one of the newer/refurbished blocks or would like to be near other med students.

Hope this helped.
