Hey! I did “Families and Households” and “Media”.
I thought the exam went pretty well, would like to hear some other thoughts though

Is A-Level Sociology a good subject as in was ot fun and enjoyable as im planning to take history,english lit+lang, and politics all are heavy essay based subjects so was wondering

super easy and really easy to fall in love with it, nobody i have ever known has been happy with choosing to do english language lol..

Oh lol I’m doing English cause I enjoy the subject at gcse level and it’s a strong subject of mine in all honesty, but I might drop history to do sociology instead.

i cant lie i didnt really like the media section. i thought they would bring in a new media question as they have always did over the years. but the familes and households section was really good i really preferred that section over media.

just did my exam today on same topics and found it ok. the 20 marker for media was a surprise but ok i think time was my biggest enemy as i couldnt finish some paragraphs

sociology is also essay heavy however i love the subject its super interesting! you just gotta find it interesting to do good at it imo

what did you write? i did one on marxism, one on cultural pessimism/ digital underclass and one on pluralism

i did. one on marxism, one on gauntlett and hyperreality and the other paragraph was pure waffle 😭 then obvs my conc- you only need 3 main paras for 20 marker

depends on the person, i always do 4 main paragraphs but thats just me

its kind of interesting but i wouldnt say fun, something id listen to a podcast about not take an alevel on, there is an intense amount of content, you will do 3 main papers, education, crime and then two topics for paper 2. all of which require you to undestand and apply different sociological perspectives, memorise the names of specific sociologists (a lot), and evaluate them all using eachothers work n stuff. take that as you will. sociology made me want to die

i cant seem to find it but i jsut need to know the two 10 markers for families and yeah i think it is being used for my mock. either that or the 2024 one

10 marker 1 was how Social change has changed divorce patterns, and 10 marker 2 was how changes in family diversity have changed family functions
